America is a Story We’re Telling Together
November 5, 2024
It’s a big day in the US, and we know that you’re probably being inundated with political stuff. Last minute calls for donations, reminders to vote, dire/encouraging things about early voting surveys and exit polling, and reminders to stay in line if you’re in line to vote are everywhere today.
We don’t want to add to the noise, but we’re pretty firmly in the “the personal is political” camp, and today means too much to be silent.
What we’d like to do is simply remind you that America is a story, an experiment, and it’s one we’re telling together right now.
Most of the time, this isn’t really something we think about. 1776 seems like it was SO long ago, and the big moments of American history seem like just that… history. But 248 years really wasn’t that long ago, not in the grand scheme of things, and every single day those of us in the US wake up and help tell the story of what America is and will be.
Most of the time, the things we do only change the story a little bit… but today is an opportunity to shape the tale in an enormous way. We don’t think we’re exaggerating when we say that today is going to be a really significant plot point, one that is going to be a big part of whether or not this story twists toward one of human rights, equal opportunity, and good triumphing over evil… or not.
If you haven’t voted yet, vote today.
Find your polling place here and learn about your down ballot races here.
Vote for the story of America you want to tell future generations. It might not feel like it right now, but it doesn’t have to be a horror story, or even a cautionary tale. We believe that the story of America can still be an imperfect but inspiring, uplifting one that we’re proud to tell.
Your vote is your voice. Help tell the story.
