Halloween Extravaganza: Our Folklore of Halloween Mini-Course!

October 8, 2019

Hello lovely magic-seekers!

Storytime! A little while ago, we asked the Carterhaugh community in our Facebook group this question: “if you could wave a magic wand and get a lecture on ANY folklore topic from us, what would it be?” We got a lot of amazing answers, but one that kept coming up over and over again was HALLOWEEN! Several people talked about how they would take a whole long course dedicated exclusively to Halloween and, frankly, we were thrilled. As you know, we LOVE Halloween!

Sadly, however, this wasn’t that long ago, and we already had a few other things in the works, so a whole 10-week course on Halloween just wasn’t in the cards this year… at least not in time for October 31st.

BUT.

We were so excited about the idea that we couldn’t stop thinking about it. We were working on other things and we’d see a fun Halloween meme, or we’d be shopping and see some fabulous spooky decor, and our minds would go right back to how much fun it would be to do a Halloween class. Could we do it in time though?

With Carterhaugh magic? HECK YEAH WE COULD! So we worked and worked until we conjured up a very special mini-course on some of our favorite parts of Halloween folklore!

Yep, IT IS HAPPENING!! We’re going to talk about the roots of Halloween, the connections between Halloween and the Celtic festival of Samhain (they’re not what the Internet typically tells you!), seasonal fairy belief, the evolution of Halloween customs like costumes and trick-or-treating, ghost legends, deathlore, legend tripping, and MORE! We LOVED putting this together (oh, and we filmed it in our brand new studio space at Sara’s place in Atlanta, which is gorgeous!)

Because we’re so excited about this, we’ve decided to offer it for just $25. Yep, you read that right. We want as many people who are curious about Carterhaugh to get a chance to see what we’re about, and we want to offer a gigantic THANK YOU to our absolutely amazing students who join us again and again by answering your request and making it as affordable as possible :).

We’re sending everything out on October 28th, so check out this page and nab your spot now! Even though it’s technically just one lesson, we’re going to have four video lectures, a private Facebook page, a grimoire page, a further reading list, questions, and everything – the whole Carterhaugh shebang!

Happiest of Halloweens dear students! If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
