Songs About Writing [Playlist!]
August 20, 2024
One of the best things about The Carterhaugh Writers Society is that you’re constantly hanging out with a group of people who absolutely love writing and ALSO love sharing things related to writing that they love.
(Bummed you missed this round? Click here to get on the waitlist for our next round!)
We’ve learned about SO many amazing tools and playlists and tricks and memes and other fun things from the members of CWS.
Exhibit A: one of our fellow writers in this latest round, Anna, sent us the song “Emily & Her Penthouse in the Sky” by Bastille, which is WILDLY gorgeous and punched us right in the feelings. (Thank you, Anna, we love you!)
We were so inspired by/ felt so attacked by this song that we made a playlist to share with you all, whether you’re in CWS or not.
Our thinking was that most “Writing Playlists” are collections of music made to write TO, which is great, but they’re not necessarily about the art of writing itself.
With this playlist, we wanted to gather a bunch of songs that are actually about writing – from the glory of creating the perfect paragraph to the utter frustration of words never being quite enough to really express what you need to express (see: one of our favorite songs EVER by Florence + the Machine, “All This and Heaven Too.”)

Let us know what you think… and DEFINITELY let us know if we missed a song you love that would fit perfectly!
